How did you find us? My lovely friend, Ellie, introduced this site to me. What about ISS inspired you to join? It’s been a while since I’ve written anything, but I’d love to get back into it. (I used to write a lot with Michelle.) I’ve been reading this site for a couple of months now. This seems like a very well organized place… It’s brilliant. Do you have any suggestions for us? Not at the moment.

About the Character- -
Name: Jennifer Autumn Age: 16 Gender: Female Year: 5th year currently, soon to be 6th Face Claim: Chyler Leigh
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties:
Jen features are small, but not quite delicate. Her face is an oval that curves down into a pointed jaw line. It’s just below her petite mouth, which naturally forms a small frown. This is most prominent when she’s concentrating, but often she’s smiling, causing small dimples to form on her soft cheeks. The smile itself is adorable… however, she never could seem to pull of sexy. Her nose is probably the largest part of her face, but it’s still rounded and only slightly too large for her features. Her eyes are a medium brown, the same color as her hair, which is often kept at a shoulder length to avoid too much hassle. The straightness of it lasts until it curves up at the very ends, gently framing her face.
Physique:
Jen’s smallness continues as a theme for the rest of her body as well. Reaching only a height of 5’2”, she is often considered short by her peers. Unlike other “short” girls though, Jen never really yearned to be tall. She has learned from a young age to expect this, thanks to her mother’s Irish descent. Her legs are the main reason for her lack of height. Jen’s mother had become a master of magically hemming her daughter’s secondhand robes. Jen never had much of a figure either, other than perhaps “box”. She has a slight chest, but it was not quite worth noting.
Wand Type: Maple, 11 1/3”, Sturdy Wand Expertise: Good for Transfiguration and Charms Patronus: Artic Fox Boggart: Her Disappointed Parents, scolding for bad marks and saying how she’ll never amount to anything.
Personality:
Jen is often quiet. She doesn’t normally bother speaking to someone just to talk. Small talk with random people is probably one of the most pointless, time-consuming things in the world to her. She would rather just read her paper during breakfast than to chatter over an essay due the next day. As soon as possible, she’ll slip away. This naturally makes her a complete bore at parties. Lucky for her, she hates these as well. When it comes to her few close friends, however, all of this is thrown out the window. She knows that these people are the ones who will actually listen to what she’s saying, no matter how emotional, ridiculous, or philosophic she’s being. In a way, it would be more snobbish than quiet if it wasn’t for her happy disposition.
Jen doesn’t care what people think of her. When she was little, she learned how to bake without magic from her mother. Ever since she picked up her first mixing bowl, it has been her passion. When she got to Hogwarts and realized that her hobby was a “job for house elves”, she didn’t care that she was labeled as one after people started seeing her leaving the kitchens on a regular basis. People had no right to make her feel worse about herself for doing what she loved. As soon as she accepted that fact, she went on living life as she always had, happy… not that she never had a snappy comeback for those that did bother to make fun of her.
Jen is a competitive know-it-all. The only reason that most people seem to know that Jen is actually alive is her ability to ace a test. Although she never raises her hand to respond to a teacher’s question, she knows the answer. She’s odd in the fact that she loves to learn new things and perfecting them. She’s the one to go to when you don’t know how to do something. She’ll help you. However, her competitiveness prevents her from doing the work for you. She believes that by pointing someone in the right direction will help them head towards the correct answer. Simply giving someone the right answer doesn’t help anyone learn. It just gives them something they don’t deserve.
On the outside, Jen seems to be like a rock. She’s all about the facts. However, when she has time to herself and her thoughts, she can’t help but feel so many emotions at once. She feels alone, scared, venerable, and just like every other teenage girl. But before you know it, she’ll back on her feet. When she’s confronted with things that can’t be explained by logic, such as love and divination, she’s frustrated easily. This is when she’s almost forced to go to her friends for much needed advice.
Likes: + Stargazing + House Elves + Being in a kitchen baking: it’s very calming to her and a way to express herself + Being Outdoors in all weather + Reading + Learning + Potions (similar to cooking) + Laughing with her Friends + Transfiguration + Being Barefoot Dislikes: – Idiots – Overly fluffy romance – Being Wrong – Being Confused – Anyone who beats her in anything – Pointless Conversation… unless with close friends – Messes – Parties/People – Divination: No Correct Answers – Being Dressed-Up – Tree Climbing: She gets stuck when she goes too far – Her handwriting
History:
Muggle-born Colleen Walsh grew up in Ireland on a small farm in the middle of nowhere. After discovering her magic, she still preferred her own by-hand hard-work to complete the simple daily chores on the farm. Her favorite chore was making the family’s meals for the day. The whole process of mixing and prepared always seemed worthwhile after watching the final product come out of the oven and scooped eagerly into her hungry family’s mouths. While at Hogwarts, she learned how to combine her old recipes with magic techniques that she had learned, which made her cooking seem more amazing. One day, just like any other dreamer, she headed for the big city: London. However, after a while, she realized that the magic almost made her food more worthless, due to the lack of heart behind it. Depressed, she retreated to a local bar, where she met a local wizard: Jack Autumn.
Jack was also down on his luck. Jack was a kind man, one who never really felt the need to press for an argument just to prove his point. He was a Ministry member on the Committee of Experimental Charms and had several mishaps with his work in that past week. He had been fired. Although he had been hoping to rid himself of his bad luck streak by heavy drinking, he found that it had disappeared by another method: finding his true love. Colleen encouraged him to remain a Ministry worker, but as a member of the Custodial staff. He was going to work again and hope to get his old job back in time. Obviously, Colleen was a very persuasive person. They were married within a few years, moved into a small country home, and were blessed with a baby girl, who they named Jennifer.
Jack and Coleen had high hopes for their daughter. Although they had failed at their own dreams, they were sure that Jen was going to achieve great things. From a young age, they encouraged her intelligence, continually telling her how smart she was. Jen loved the attention and worked hard to prove that their compliments were true. She studied her books and learned from her parents long before she had a wand. Jen learned how to cook at this time, proving yet again her many skills.
Her work proved to be worthwhile after coming home after her first year at Hogwarts with top marks. After a few more years, she went into her O.W.L. preparation classes, as expected of her. Her parents couldn’t be prouder. A month or so into the year, however, she realized that she wasn’t quite what she thought she was. She was no longer top marks. Her grades were slipping, and she couldn’t find out why. She finally had to work harder than she had to ever before. She was no longer the best, which was frustrated her tremendously. She’s scared that she’ll never be what she had hoped, her dreams slowly sliding out of sight.
Sample Post:
Jen sighed as she quietly shut the portrait door to the kitchens. House elves were far more understanding than people... or maybe it was just the familiar warm smells of the herbs and spices that made her feel better. Either way, Jen felt calmer than she did when she entered the kitchens. Her O.W.L classes were far more difficult than she had anticipated and were driving her mad. She completely understood the lessons and theories, but when it came to practical usage, everything seemed to fall flat. She would manage to pass, but barely. Things weren't going the way that she had hoped... The only thing that she could do perfectly was potions... cooking and potions. She shook her head. These were considered talents, but it wasn't enough for her… or her parents.
Lost in her thoughts, she continued to stroll down the hallway. She watched the people passing her, some laughing wildly at a joke. Jen gave a small smile. The world wasn't ending. She'd just need to pick up more of the slack... a while longer studying in the morning and at night... it wouldn't be too difficult. She only had a few more inches of her Transfiguration essay left and a spell to practice for Charms. It was doable. Her mind began to spin with thoughts and plans, a timetable in the works.
Her thoughts accidentally started to wander to her friends. They were probably on the grounds somewhere, cloud-watching. Jen laughed and headed down to the lake. Once outside though, she saw that boy, doting on her friend, as always. Still a good distance away, she stopped and glared. Ugh! How she hated him! Jen hardly ever got to see her friend without him anymore, and it was affecting her. She was one of the few that she could actually talk to, and now she was gone in Love Land, never to be seen again... or at least for a few months. She was so busy fuming in her thoughts that she didn't hear someone coming up behind her, until he spoke.
