About the Character- -
Name Liam Powel Age 16 Gender Male Year 5th Face Claim John Mayerl
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties:
He has wavy black hair that reaches just above his shoulders, it is often left to do what it will. His eyes are lazy, almost never completely wide open, and they have small, thin lines of gray jutting from his pupils into the piercingly vivid blue that comprises their vast majority of them, almost eclipsing the white. Often a look of content is dominating his countenance, his eyes most of the time glazed over, a small smile tugging at his somewhat thin lips. His cheeks are periodically a bit pale but normally they are a light but healthy shade of red, and with each wide-eyed, and full bellied laugh he often lets out small dimples appear on them, accompanied with a few small, almost unnoticeable lines. Finally a rounded chin juts out from his pale neck, bearing a mid-pubescent goatee, not fully grown, but a bit more so than might be thought of a boy only just about to turn 17. Physique:
At 6'1 and just about 200 lbs he is a healthy build. Often asked by his muggle friends to play football, he has strong arms and legs; when in shorts his calves are well defined, able to see the movements of each muscle as he walks. His arms are big but not as well defined as his legs, and holding them to his body are broad, very strong shoulders. His mid-section is fit and his abs are easily visable. Across his stomach can be seen a few scars, most unnoticeable but one large one, red and about the width of the tip of a quill, runs diagonally from his left shoulder and curves into his side before ending in a red patch of damaged skin.
Wand Type: Redwood with Manticore claw center Wand Expertise: Dark Arts, Transfiguration and Charms Patronus: a Panther Boggart: His ex-girlfriend
Personality:
Liam Powel is first and foremost very care free. Often he sleeps until 12 or 1 on the weekends and spend the entire day lounging. When a test is around the corner often he will be found reading the newest or most popular fantasy novel, or maintaining his new but already fairly worn Nimbus 1000. In class he listens attentively but doesn't often take notes, he has found that for the most part he can pass any test without much trouble or studying. More often than not he can be found flirting with the closest female to him, although he is often doing it more for his personal benefit than for love. The reason for him being so promiscuous is that when he was 14 he had a girlfriend whom he had met his very first year at Hogwarts, they had been together since the very first month. In their 4th year though, he had walked in on her and his best friend making out in the boys lavatory. When he lifted him off of her she mearly looked up and him, grinned and pulled his friend back down onto her.
Generally more of a quiet person he is often left alone, somewhat content but usually yearning for something more, to practice his favorite spells, most of which involve turning his enemies legs into stone or binding a hand to the most private parts of their body (in some cases not necessarily the victims own hand own hands). Often casting these spells on other students he is either thought a nuisance or a comical genius. He has a specific knack for hexes, jinxes and curses of all kinds and usually takes to learning new ones very easily. Sadly though, most of the spells in his arsenal are used for the wrong reasons, he is often caught attempting to transfigure items from store shelves into a pocket watch or such so he can carry it out unnoticed.
An avid Quidditch enthusiast, he is very spirited, that is of course, when he decides to open up. Along with his free spiritedness he is very strong willed. Often during the summer he and his friends would bewitch stones and such to simulate a real Quidditch match, and the friends whom were chosen to be on his team rarely suffered a loss He almost never backs down from a challenge, often pushing himself beyond his physical limits to come out on top. It isnt often that he is able to make friends, due to his solitary nature. But those who do manage to get close to him will find an ally that will stay beside them, not likely abandon them. Not only does he value his allies above all else he is strong willed and extremely determined. He fears emotional pain above all things, prefering to die rather than suffer the kind of heartache caused by his ex.... he never could cope well with a broken heart. That incident so many years ago is the root of his solidarity, he isolates himself to a select group of people whom he trusts and very seldom opens up to anyone new.
Overall Liam is very solitary with few friends, but with those he has, he is close. Perhaps his greatest weakness is that he is extremely gullible. Easily swayed by peer pressure, he is often taken advantage of. Those who know him well know that he has always had fits of depression from time to time, often holing himself up in his room because he failed a test, or losing his appetite all together because he was rejected by a girl. He was always very emotionally sensitive, and he always over analyzes things, often seeing everything in nothing
Likes: + Flying + The moon + Dueling + Pranks + Picking on strangers + acting strange in public + long hair + Quidditch + Dragons + collectibles Dislikes: – Ugly women – People who don't shut up – French food – Heat – Being bested in anything – The smell after it rains – Tight clothes – Bright colors – Dogs – indecisivness
History:
Born of pure-blood, his father, Aleck Powel was a decent wizard, a master in the art of transfiguration, although, he never made a career of it, deciding rather to work with his wife in the ministry studying muggle artifacts. His mother Alexis was a multi-lingual translator for the ministry, she spoke often at peace treaties between feuding species and most fluently spoke Mermish. Their jobs at the ministry didn't pay much so the were not wealthy but not poor either, Liam always had what he needed and most of what he wanted. When he was a child, about 4 or 5, he would always climb the furniture around his house. More often than not Alexis would come into his room in the morning to wake him and find him hanging from the curtain rods. He was also very mischievous. At the age of 8 he had managed to realize that he could turn knives into rather large worms just by concentrating on them and thinking about the slimy exterior of the worm, and its color.
His parents always instilled in him tolerance of "mud bloods", as he had heard them called many times by friends, and while he did understand that they were no more or less than pure bloods, he still always preferred pure blooded families. The one thing that many Wizarding families would not agree with is that as he was brought up he was taught to respect the dark arts more than to fear them, although as he learned more about them the fear began to shadow the respect. Other than a healthy fear and respect for the dark arts, Liam was raised to be a very respectable boy. He was always nice to whomever he met, especially girls, and he always tried to do the kinder thing, although the wrong often got the best of him. Early in his first year at Hogwarts a friend told him about the killing curse and in his curiosity, which had always been the reason for his troubles, he tried it on a squirrel one day during Care of Magical Creatures. The spell backfired almost killing him, shattering every bone in his arm and one rib and hurting several other students that had sneaked off with him to see if he would be successful. After narrowly avoiding expulsion he was still unable to quell his curiosity and taste for trouble making, so he began playing pranks, students and faculty alike.
He got in trouble constantly receiving detention every Saturday. many people whom he thought were his friends, and enjoyed his antics, disassociated themselves from him in order to stay in good standings with the faculty. He began to grow increasingly bored spending his nights alone in the corner of the common room reading about boring stunning spells, and "lame" disarmament spells. He then heard a group of 4th years talking about a group they had formed that would meet in the Room of Requirement, so that they could practice the dark arts. Some of them were interested in crafting poisons, some were intrigued by some of the most deadly creatures, but all Liam wanted to do was learn as many curses as he could.
Now in his 5th year he is head long into the dark arts, a master of several school and ministry banned curses, some for dismembering, some tailored to torture the victim as it killed them slowly. He had been put on probation twice since he had joined this club, the ministry threatening to break his wand if it cast one more sinister curse. He headed these warnings but continued to study the horrible subject learning as much as he could. The power of the curses he knew, though, had made him arrogant. He was not so different from his childhood, he still showed the same kindness to those that he knew, but to those whom he did not know he was cruel, playing jokes, humiliating them, probing for their weaknesses and then exploiting them simply for fun.
Sample Post:
Liam stepped heavily through to the threshold of the common room, panting a bit after having made a mad dash to escape being caught by a prefect that was patrolling the entrance hall when he came in from the grounds after curfew. He was completely soaked to the bone, his torn up cloak was trailing water on the marble floor and he made his way to the L shaped couch by the fireplace. He took off his cloak and threw it on the floor by the fire, it made a muffled squelching sound as it started to form a puddle. He threw himself on the couch and laid his head back. As he stared up at the ceiling, the fire getting dimmer by the minute, darkness was starting to creep into the common room... he loved this time of night.
He took out his wand, it looked completely black in the bad lighting, but little bit of light that was coming from the fire made the polished Redwood wand look as tho it had been dipped in blood. "Ferula" he muttered, bandaging up several significantly deep cuts he had received on his forearms and then another near his collar bone. He winced in pain as he rose from the couch, when he was flat on his feet he stood still for a moment, his back straight and his shoulders pushed backwards, puffing out his chest. He pointed his wand at the fire and a small tongue of flame shot from the tip brightening the room just a bit. he had become decent at nonverbal spells over the summer, although he could still only correctly cast 3 without speaking.
"Your back I see" said a cold voice from the stairwell, Liam turned around to see his girlfriend Leera Middleton. She was very pale, even during the day, but now she looked completely sapped of all color; most likely a bi-product of the condemning scowl on her face. Her hair was long, extending to her lower back, it was very wavy and jet black, as though it had been dipped into the darkest of midnight skies. She walked down the stairwell, her night gown billowing gently at her ankles from the slight draft coming from the windows lining the stairs.
"Yeah... i didn't think you'd be awake* "Orchideus" he muttered and presented her with a bouquet of yellow roses, although they looked more orange in the red glow from the fire. He went to kiss her on the lips, he loved her thin red lips, but she turned her cheek to him "Whats wrong?" he asked and grabbed her by the hips, pulling her closer, but she pushed away.
"I'm sick of you always fighting... thats what you were doing right?" She grabbed his hands and took them off of her waist, her arms now crossed and her lips pursed. "You always come back hurt, and i feel like you'd rather spend your time learning more spells than with me."
Liam scoffed and walked back to the fire place to grab his cloak, he hung it over the mantle so it would dry. He looked out of the window and the full moon was beginning to come into view, the rain clouds still lingered a bit, the light tapping of rain drops on the frosted window pane still present. "The only reason i was fighting" he said as he walked back to her "was because he was making moves on you... you know how jealous i get. And it didn't help that you weren't doing much to fight him off."
Leera's jaw dropped and her brow slanted "Are you seriously accusing me of cheating?" She asked, her voice a mixture of disgust and disbelief. She had always been faithful to him since they had me in their 2nd year, and even though they were not the most popular individuals it could not be argued that they made an amazing couple. Just as she said this Dmitri Renalt stepped through the door into the common room, his cloak soaked, bloody and torn, his face littered with cuts. He was holding his wand as straight as he could but it looked as though his arm had been broken, or severely injured.
"You tried to kill me... what the fuck is wrong with you!?" He bellowed, his wand shaking and his legs trembling. Liam reached into his pocket for his wand "I know... I must be getting rusty" He laughed as he pulled out his wand, but he had understimated the coherency of his maimed opponent.
A vivid yellow flash blinded him
A beam of red sped past his head, leaving a long, deep cut from the corner of his eye to the back of his ear. He regained his vision and gripped his right eye, feeling the blood now pouring down his face. He heard a thud behind him and turned around to see Leera, her black hair sprawled out on the light red marble floor, her white nightgown quickly turning deep red. She was the only girl he'd ever felt any emotional attachment to...
He faught down an explosion of rage erupting from his stomach... to no avail

Hi Ben, and welcome to ISS! Your application shows promise but I'm afraid that I'll have to ask you to edit certain things before it can be accepted. Most importantly, we are not accepting sixth years at the moment so he can, at oldest, be a fifth year.
As well, you seem to have made an error with the coding and the whole of it is bolded when it should be the form part only. See:
It should be: Name: Liam Powell
Not: Name: Liam Powell
And that goes for all sections of the application.
As well, I'd like to point out that you need to appropriately capitalize the first name in your display name and that you have his name written in the application as "Powell" but in the title and display name as "Powel" so which is it?
Your personality seems a little bit lacking, as it should be four decent-sized paragraphs and one of those is really quite small. You also don't need to keep the part that says {4+ Paragraphs} that's merely for your reference when you're filling out the application.
And finally, the codes at the very top are for three 100 x 100 icons of your characters and need to be filled instead of left blank. Thanks.
Otherwise, it's a decent application but until you make the appropriate changes, it cannot be accepted.

Okay, great job fixing the format and all that, it's really close to being where it needs to be. However:
- You still need to fix your display name, first name capitalized: Liam Powel
- This is a Marauders era role-play, Firebolts have not been invented yet
- You have to apply for a spot on the Quidditch team so you can't assume in his application that he's on the team. It will depend on whether or not there is space on the team of whichever house Liam is sorted into.
