RECIPE FOR THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES I'VE EVER TASTED (A special thanks to Mitsy the house-elf)
INGREDIENTS • 1 cup butter flavored shortening • 3/4 cup white sugar • 3/4 cup brown sugar • 2 eggs • 2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extract • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1 teaspoon salt • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. 2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. 3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

I’m directing a new play in London, it’s your favorite The Importance of Being Earnest. Next month I’ll be doing Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in Brussels. Things are going alright, a few new actresses that think they’re better than everyone are holding us up a bit but I’ll knock them off their high horses soon enough. Oden is doing well, Miss Barkley from down the road is taking care of him while I’m gone and I made sure to give her the special instructions you wrote up about taking care of your garden. Which was looking beautiful the last time I saw, just so you know. Best be off, have to get back to work now. Remind Will about or deal or him not teaching you any foreign languages, I don’t need you to be running around insulting and cursing me in Latin like last year.

I fucked up. I should’ve just smiled and told Lucy I was happy for her and Will, but no! I had to be a drama queen and call her up to the astronomy tower. Never I’ve lost my best friend… It’s all my fault. I called her up there, she tried to keep me calm and talk it out, and then I slapped her. I deserve to go to hell for that… She hates me now, but that’s okay because I hate myself to.

The earliest memory I have of my mother is of her feeding me gummy bears in an attempt to get me to say ‘mommy’… My mother was and did many things. She painted magical portraits. She once auditioned to play a witch in a play. She darned socks, fixed broken plates with krazy glue, and baked my birthday cake personally every year. She was a daughter to my grandmother, who today goes and visits her grave with a bouquet of sunflowers. She was a wife and good friend to my father, who today will sit in the living room drinking jasmine tea and listening to old swing records. Most importantly to me, Poppy Evelyn Finn was my mother. She passed away three years ago, and today would’ve been her 36th birthday. I will spend it as I have every year since her passing. I will go into the library, find that old dog-eared copy of Romeo & Juliet, and eat gummy bears. Happy Birthday Mom…
