{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Piper Tangrew Age: 16 Gender: Female Year: 6th Face Claim: Paget Brewster
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Many people have called her Egyptian in the past, and she nows why they think so. Her hair is dark, but when she turns her head just right it seems a glimmer of red graces it. She has high-set dark eyes that surround a somewhat pointy nose. Her cheekbones are sharp and often colored and lead down to a sharp chin, but she still manages to look kind and young despite the aging factor. Her hair doesn't often go passed her neck, and she entertains bangs on and off. She often has a knowing look in her eyes that makes people uneasy. Physique: She is fit, and no one can deny it. She doesn't even have the hourglass shape that women covet; it is a straight line all the way down, and it is a long way down with her legs as long as they are. She stands fairly average when compared to others, but her legs seem to be almost half of her or more. Her skin is unnaturally light, but cannot really be called pale. She has muscles along her upper arms and lower legs that point toward the fact that she doesn't plan on letting herself go anytime soon.
Wand Type: Wand Expertise: Charms Patronus: Ocelot Boggart: Wolf
Personality: Piper has always had her way of looking at things. She seems to see things differently than anyone else around her. People tell her she always finds the silver lining, but that isn't really the case. When someone presents a problem to her, she looks at it from all sides before she speaks her mind about it. And believe that she will most definitely speak her mind about it, because there isn't much she'll keep hidden. It's nice to never wonder around her, because she has the tendency to flat out tell you what is bothering her, whether or not it involves you. Ask and you shall receive, as they say. She hates feeling confined, both physically and mentally. She has her own bubble of personal space around her that doesn't allow people to get very close. Needless to say, she isn't very touchy-feely and hates people who are. She also hates it when she is ahead of the class and must sit through practice after practice when all she wants is to show that she can do it much better than her slacking neighbor. She never understood the purpose of slacking anyway; why not just get it done right away so you don't need to panic about it later? When you get it done fast, you have time later to do whatever it is you want to be doing. That's what she has always felt, anyway.
People have a tendency to brush her off, which makes her angry. She doesn't get mad often! Scratch that. She gets mad a lot, but sums it up to frustration and vents to her cat. After all, many things that come out of her mouth are too scrambled and backward when she is angry, which makes her feel less smart than she really is. So she just keeps her mouth shut; the one exception to the speaking her mind rule. She is a proud person, and isn't afraid to do what she wants just because other people don't think it is right or fun. She'll read no matter how nice the weather is thankyouverymuch. No, she will not do your homework because you should have done it yourself last week when it was assigned! She gets pretty snappy, but that isn't the heart of her. She is actually quite insecure and rather confused, but it is all about things in her life and have nothing to do with schoolwork. Home life weighs on her mind a lot and takes a toll eventually. She feels better when she is alone, though she isn't without friends. Just not very many of them. Independence is the key to greatness, after all. Why have someone hanging on your arm and slowing you down? Like those dumb girls that fawn and fight over guys.
Puh-leeze. Get over it and realize how much better you are than him! Guys are nothing when it comes down to it. A means to an end, most of them. It's better to avoid the heartbreak and just swerve around them. Smile and move on, buddy. Piper isn't interested, no sir. No man is going to steal this girl's heart. There comes a time when people have to work together to achieve something great, but until that time comes then you might as well study for it. What if the potion you're working on bubbles over? You'll have to know every ingredient and what amount you put in, so it's good to be overly paranoid and have an eidetic memory.
Piper feels prepared for everything, and if she isn't than she is trying to be. She isn't one to be caught by surprise, and would absolutely hate if if she was. She feels the urge to know absolutely everything so nothing can bowl her over. Her memory is superb and she can recall nearly everything she hears and sees, and every word she reads. It comes in handy with the paranoid part. She'll listen, alright. And she'll watch. She can pick up on little signs and predict what will happen next, though it isn't always easy. She isn't much for conversation, but she'll listen if you want to talk. She can always save it for later when it might be important. If it ever is important, because she mostly feels that it isn't. She would rather be reading than listening to you yab about your boyfriend.

History: Piper Tangrew was an accident. One night of letting go, and look what you end up with! Her mother hated children, so Piper was mostly raised by a nanny. A lot of them. Piper's mother was an ambassador, and moved nearly every three months to a different part of the country. Piper grew up learning languages, practicing politics, and reading the fantasy books her mother hated. A father was never mentioned, and Piper never brought it up. Her mother was an icy woman, and often would refuse to speak to a person for days if they made her angry. Piper developed that facet of her mother's personality, though she abhors anything related to her mother. She became a rebel at the age of eight, when her magic showed itself. What's worse than a one night stand? A one night stand with a wizard that gives you a magical child. And not even a fully bred one, at that. A half-blood.
If Piper had thought her mother hated her already, the magic was the cap of the pipe bomb. The moment the $3,000 Italian vase in the entrance hall exploded, Piper was out of there. It was alright. The elderly nanny was happy to take her away and to a part of London most muggles avoided. After all, what kind of nanny would she be if she wasn't a witch in hiding to take care of the poor abused child? Piper learned control from Clarissa, and she never forgot it. Breathing in and out through your nose when you're frustrated calms you down just like a cup of tea. Piper first found snow in London as well, and she tacked it on as a part of her new life. She hasn't let it go since; Winter is forever her favorite season, and the only thing which she truly gets sentimental over.
As she grew older she grew more curious about everything. Clarissa had a library with millions of books, and it didn't take a genius to know that reading sent you to anywhere you wanted to be. Piper would read anything you put in her hands, whether or not is was of practical interest. At age eleven, Clarissa sent Piper to Hogwarts. Piper was so fascinated that she didn't really seem to feel anything when she got the letter that Clarissa had died over and she was stuck at Hogwarts until they found her mother. A part of her knew her mother would never take her back, so she wasn't worried. She hadn't counted on them finding her father, though, who was only happy to take her in.
That first summer was spent locked away and ignoring every reaching out he made to her. But after a while, she eventually learned that he was the exact opposite of her icy mother; he hated politics, loved to read, and lived in the same place his entire life. She fell in love with him, and became "daddy's girl". Everything happens for a reason, correct? She had finally found her validation for Clarissa's death, not that she truly needed one. Everything was going to be great from there on out, whether or not it wanted to be. She would make it.
